Frequently asked questions that guests might have before visiting our lodge

🐆 May – September = dry season where you can expect to see wildlife around watering holes. The thinner vegetation at this time of year makes wildlife easier to spot.

🦏 October – April = wet season, but the best time to see newborn animals. The vegetation is full and green, and wildlife is in its best condition. The babies also draw out the predators, so there is a high probability of spotting animals from the Carnivora order.

Other notable times:
🦌 February = waterbuck birthing season
🐃 March = kudu and buffalo breeding season
🐕 May = wild dog denning period
🐘 June = elephant migration from Mozambique and Zimbabwe

  • Our staff wear masks at all times. Please be patient with your guide, especially on a game drive, as commentary may be impeded by the mask.
  • Sanitising stations are available at all entry points to the property, and in all vehicles.
    Your temperature will be taken upon arrival at our lodge, upon entry into a vehicle, and at the start of each game drive.
  • Only two people allowed per row in the vehicle, to allow an open seat between travellers, unless travelling with family.
We are situated in a malaria area and recommend you speak to your GP to organise a malaria prescription before you leave. Make sure you bring enough of the medication with you for the length of your trip. Note: local clinics have testing facilities and medication, should you contract malaria.
There is basic cell coverage at the lodge, and wifi is available.
Sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, lip balm, sunglasses, camera.
Summer: comfortable, cool, breathable clothing, closed shoes advised for walks, sandals for day-to-day wear Winter: warm clothing, closed shoes, beanies, scarves etc.
  • Do listen to your guide as he/she will provide the best advice applicable to your game drive, ensuring you have the best possible experience.
  • Don’t try to call the animals to get their attention.
  • Don't exit the vehicle unless at a designated spot, and only with the approval of your guide.
  • Don’t litter.
  • Please note: the animals in Kruger are wild and sightings are not guaranteed. No two days are the same. Your guide will use their experience and knowledge to try to provide the requested sightings.
  • Don’t feed the animals. It’s against the rules to feed them. If any of the animals associate humans with food, they may become dangerous and will have to be put down. They are capable of feeding themselves in their natural habitat.
  • Do ask questions. There is so much to learn.
  • Do have fun!
  • Do make it a memorable experience.

Our game viewers are enclosed, which allows us to conduct game drives and transfers, no matter the weather. In wintertime it does get cold, so please bring outerwear, and wrap up warm.

  • We have local GP’s in the area (Komatipoort and Malelane - 30 minutes drive)
  • The nearest hospital is Nelspruit - 110km away.
  • As noted above, the nearest hospital is a fair distance away, so please take care when moving around the park and the lodge.
  • Should you encounter any of the above-mentioned creatures, do not engage. Remove yourself from the room or facility, and report it to management so that safe removal of the animal can be organised.
  • Highly venomous snakes: there are 54 species of snakes found around the Kruger area, of which only nine are deadly poisonous. However, if you encounter any snake, please always allow management to determine the species and the appropriate course of action.
  • Fly: to Johannesburg (JHB) or to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA)
  • We offer transfers to our lodge, from both JHB airport and KMIA.
  • Self-drive
  • Our summers get very hot in Mpumalanga, with temperatures reaching 40°C on an average day. The animals are accustomed to the temperatures, and our game drives are catered for the best viewing times of the day.
  • Winter mornings are cold, but the days are beautiful. Game drives are catered for the best available viewing opportunities.
Children of all ages are welcome. Please note: a booking with children below the age of 12 requires you to book out the full lodge (five rooms) to allow for adequate space and flexibility.

The original design of the building means that currently, our rooms are not wheelchair friendly.
